Nestled within the Rune Stone Park landscape, the Kensington Rune Stone Interpretive Center is a popular destination for visitors coming to see the Rune Stone discovery site and the Ohman homestead farm. Following a master plan which was completed by JLG and SRF, JLG worked with Douglas County to bring the visitor center portion of the plan to life. The new Visitor Center provides a large gathering space, toilet rooms, and an interpretive space telling the story of the Rune Stone and Viking immigrant history. The new facility also provides a warming space for winter time park-goers which incorporates a viewing area overlooking the large sledding hill as well as a fireplace feature.
