Jugofresh, a Miami-born juice company, is rapidly expanding its brand and physical presence. The architect designed a new space for the company, shaping the brand by playing off the strengths of this revitalizing neighborhood to create a vibrant image. The juice bar is served by new kitchen facility at the company's headquarters in Little Haiti, also designed by the architect. At Jugofresh Wynwood Walls, the architect created a hybrid space that serves as a busy store, a function space and a pathway. The design incorporates an open-air breezeway connecting the inner courtyard of the existing, vibrantly-painted Wynwood Walls complex and the street. By doing this, the new shop becomes a semi-public space, a virtual extension of the Walls. The breezeway/pathway, a virtual wind tunnel decorated by a wall of fans, functions as the outdoor seating area of the small shop. Continuous bi-folding glass doors connect the breezeway to the inside, so the space can be fully opened or closed according to weather and need. A graphic carpet of green, running from the floor to the walls to the ceiling, unites interior and exterior. The space is activated in off hours by yoga classes, talks and events, allowing it to contribute to the life of the neighborhood and foster health and wellness beyond promoting the health benefits of the juice itself.
