The Jiangpu Community Culture and Sports Center, located in Yangpu District, Shanghai, is built on the former site of the historic Shanghai Forever Bicycle Factory. The project aims to revitalize the community's culture and living environment. The building is long and narrow, with the main entrance on Liyuan West Road. The internal courtyard is divided into various outdoor activity spaces, including areas for youth creative markets and elderly interaction. The first two floors feature double-height spaces, while the second floor includes reading and activity rooms for calligraphy, painting, and dance. The third and fourth floors house a rehabilitation area, gym, and a small multifunctional hall, with a 300-seat column-free multifunctional hall on the fifth floor. The design incorporates curved forms and reverse arc shapes to create a continuous streetscape, preserving the plane trees along the sidewalk. Large glass curtain walls connect the interior and exterior, with 8-meter-high glass on the first and second floors enhancing comfort. The building extends into a landscaped staircase, offering a rich spatial experience and serving as a playground for children.
