In designing Jamie Kennedy’s new flagship restaurant, the renowned chef was intent on creating a space that characterised his identity. “Anyone can serve fries,” Jamie told us, “how you create them and how you present them turns the fries into something else.”
The new wine bar takes simple building materials and re-presents them in a new form. For instance, the wine bar counter is made from a 26 foot long piece of continuous 3” thick parrallam, a composite wood by-product material typically used for structural beams. The counter surface was milled by professional woodworkers and handled like a piece of precious stone. The preserve wall which displays mason jars filled with pickled fruits and vegetables creates a multi-coloured and functional backdrop for the open kitchen.
The Wine Bar proper seats 40 patrons, and an adjacent event space, connected to the bar by a sliding wall partition, seats an additional 140 guests for catered venues.
