Traditional Iranian House Design Iranian houses of the past were characterized by unique features such as harmony with nature and a sense of vitality. Elements like privacy, security, and comfort were prioritized. Design Details: The materials used in both interior and exterior spaces of this project reflect traditional Iranian architectural elements. The west façade of the building was designed to block direct sunlight while still allowing indirect light into the interior spaces, creating a sense of privacy. To maintain privacy and prevent a direct connection with the exterior, balconies were paired with shading elements.
The building’s western façade is oriented away from the primary social spaces of the site, directing natural light into the interior through secondary openings. This arrangement provides private and communal spaces on separate floors, enhancing the sense of intimacy and security for residents. The vertical connection between spaces is defined through vertical columns and voids, which minimize unused internal spaces and create continuity between storage and service areas. This design integrates traditional brick patterns with modern techniques, resulting in a blend of tradition and innovation.
Façade Composition: The project’s façade combines two primary elements: brick and glass. Half of the openings are designed with colored glass panels, adding depth and contrast to the overall structure. Additionally, the northern façade incorporates windows and openings that maximize natural light, offering a balance of shade and openness for residents. Entrance Design: The building’s west-facing entrance guides residents through a stepped sequence, transitioning smoothly from the outdoor environment into the home. The entry connects the courtyard and workshop areas, creating a seamless spatial flow that respects the needs of both private and communal spaces.
