Designed by Todd Smith during his tenure as Principal at Johnston Architects, the architectural journey of Icicle Brewing Company began in 2008-09. Post Construction and since the formation of Syndicate Smith, Principal Architect, Steven Booher, has masterfully steered the design through several transformative remodels, mirroring the brewery's evolution.
Initially envisioned as a barn dedicated to the art of beer making, the structure's inherent flexibility allowed it to adapt to the brewery's changing needs over the past decade. While rooted in its industrial origins, the space, after 3-4 remodels, has evolved into a dynamic gathering place for both locals and visitors, marking a shift from its initial focus on beer production.
Maintaining a cozy, fun, and inviting atmosphere, the interior weaves a rich tapestry of history and materiality, narrating the various phases of its evolution. Despite changes, the original terra cotta tile, epoxy, and remnants of the brew floor persist, lending the space an intriguing character. As the primary production facility moved outside of town, the tasting room morphed into a pivotal social hub, welcoming patrons to engage in conversations, secrets, and celebrations. The addition of a kitchen reflects the necessity to cater to the growing number of guests, encapsulating the vibrant journey of Icicle Brewing Company.
