ICECUBE propose itself, due to its physical and scenic characteristic, as a new Landmark for Moscow City, whose aim is to reconfigure the visual connections between the volume of the ex cinema Russia, Pushink square and the
city urban context.
ICE CUBE will become the new container for Pushkinsky cinema, that in the course of time has been one of the major expressions of social and cultural life for Moscow and the whole Russia.
ICE CUBE imagines a two “skins” system an inner one trasparent . The envelope of the volumes dedicated to theatre and cinema and an exterior one, modular, dynamic and interactive which will be the
visible external skin.
The concept starts with the idea of an ice-cube that, interacting with the surrounding environment , convert it self, becoming fragmented through the fractality principle. The key elements of the new envelope consist of a series of modular panels, which are controled with a curtain’s opening system. Those panels can be disposed horizontally, giving
more transparency at the interior and projecting to the outside lighting effects, chromaticor video-dynamic.
