An elegant, contemporary single-family house emerges from the conditions of the building plot. The site is flat, elongated, and bordered on two sides by existing buildings. The clearly defined geometry of the space dictates the rectangular composition of the house. Inserted into the fabric of neighboring single- and multi-family dwellings, the house appears as a calm yet confident volume.
The house has three levels. With the establishment of a raised ground floor, a sense of dynamism and a play of light were introduced, creating shifting atmospheres of living throughout the day. The ground floor with a mezzanine forms the heart of the house – a space for gathering, fluidity, and shared life. Above it rises a more intimate world: two children’s rooms and a serene suite for the parents. In the basement are the technical facilities and storage rooms.
Through carefully considered glazing, the house opens towards the garden and closes itself off from the street. The rear northeast façade is likewise more enclosed. With refined glazing and thoughtfully chosen façade materials, the volume is visually softened and diminished. The house appears light and airy: the bright ground floor carries the darker upper level, giving the impression of floating above the garden. This is the architectural gesture that unites discretion, openness, and elegance into a harmonious whole.
