The Capitole de Québec hotel project is an expansion of the existing building located on a historic and unique site protected by UNESCO. The main facades are oriented on one side towards Old Quebec, facing the fortifications and on the other side, the Laurentians mountains.
Located in the rear part of the existing building and on the edge of the fortifications of Quebec, the hotel has a panoramic lobby on the 7th floor with a view of Old Quebec, which is connected to the existing part thanks to an aerial walkway.
The expansion project also includes 109 additional rooms and suites, a swimming pool on the 9th floor which joins a terrace located on the roof, a glazed gym facing the fortifications, more spacious and comfortable artists' dressing rooms as well as a multifunction landing stage.
The coloring and appearance of the building changes according to the perspective, from one angle it seems made of brick thanks to perpendicular mullions of identical color to the brick of the existing building and from the other, it seems entirely glazed. This optical effect was chosen so that the new contemporary-style building blends in with the existing building while respecting its heritage character.
