Just before the Bavarian Alps, on the "Wackersberger Höhe", the nature hotel emerges confidently but thoughtfully from the neighboring forest. The aboveground exterior walls of the guest wing were prefabricated to the maximum in timber frame construction with pre-installed windows. Together with the prefabricated concrete ceilings, they contributed significantly to the building being ready for occupancy in just 17 months with around 1500 m3 of structural and façade timber used.
The hotel is a encouragement to a way of working with wood that not only tolerates its imperfections, but transforms them in every facet into a positive architectural, aesthetic, structural or ecological function and enrichment. The construction creates the design. The result is a changeable, authentic beauty that is allowed to change with the seasons and over the years and can therefore always be experienced individually.
The nature hotel invites you to immerse yourself in a world where the increasingly fast-paced reality of everyday life is paused and all senses are focused on what stills our spirit. The hotel creates a meditative spa experience through pure reduction, creating a completely close, unimagined experience for visitors. The concept's focus on maintaining a vital spirit is a future-oriented response to the developments and problems of our society that we are already facing and will increasingly affect us in the future.
The hotel complex consists of a main building, 3 external lodges, a heating house and a pavilion. The main building with 46 rooms and its public areas has an unheated, underground spa area in the basement, which is connected to the first floor pavilion ("senses house") in the garden area via a stairway. Adjacent to this is the large communal biopool with outdoor area and three exclusive guest lodges with their own small private biopools and gardens. An omnipresent connection to nature, which runs through the entire hotel concept, is always apparent. From the wood-based regenerative energy concept to the deceleration principle for stressed guests and the consistent constructive use of natural and recyclable materials. Everything revolves around just one theme: the tree. Its effect. Its influence. Its resource. Its opportunity for us humans.
