A former church has been restored to its former glory and upgraded for use as a weekend get-away in the rural town of Eddington, near Bendigo.
The proposed new fit-out aims to highlight the beauty of the lofty, ecclesiastical interior, where the use of arches and curves pay homage to the existing forms and theme. The existing nave was retained and enhanced for use as an open space living area. The rear apse has been divided into two levels, each containing a bedroom and bathroom within the former lofty attic space.
Simple, robust materials such as natural timber, stone and fine render finishes were chosen to complement the existing building and for their timeless elegance.
