With the OSC Operation Security Center, Viereck Architects have created a forward-looking office building that seamlessly combines the demands of a high-tech work environment with focus on employee wellbeing and innovative design. The project reflects the client's vision as a highly technologized energy company with deep regional roots, offering an inspiring workplace that unites technological precision and human interaction. Architecturally, the building is characterized by a symbiosis of high-tech minimalism and parametric design. Its clear yet fluid geometry, rounded corners, and the floating volume of the upper floor express a modern and progressive attitude. The finely perforated aluminum faade adds lightness and texture while communicating identity and technological principles. The faade is composed of individually crafted, laser-cut aluminum panels with a parametrically generated perforation pattern inspired by Austrias river landscapesa direct reference to the client's hydropower expertise. Automated kinetic elements allow the faade to respond to environmental conditions, providing effective sun protection, ventilation, and visual transformation throughout the day. As a result, the building envelope functions both as a high-performance faade system and a sculptural, ever-changing surface that poetically connects technology and nature. Inside, a large central atrium with a skylight forms the communicative heart of the building. It enhances orientation, encourages interaction, and brings natural light deep into the interior. A terracotta-colored sculptural staircase connects the two floors, emphasizing transparency and connectivity. Generous glazing strengthens the relationship between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape, contributing to employee wellbeing. The interior design draws inspiration from different bodies of water, translating their color palettes into architecture through shades of green, turquoise, and blue. Terracotta acts as a warm, unifying accent throughout the building, while the combination of stainless steel and wood balances technical clarity with natural comfort. The result is a calm, timeless, and sustainable work environment with a distinct identity.
