The 800 sq. m house is on a cliff, near the ocean. The main requirement of the local municipality was: that the house should be practically invisible, minimally change the local landscape, and not stand out in the environment, since the cliff in which it is located is visible from the downtown.
The volumes’ arrangement according to the site’s topography creates a feeling of natural elevation difference - the terraces continue the landscape. Each level has natural surroundings providing a spectacular view and the natural sunlight.
The atrium structure is at the heart of the design. Each function is assigned to an architectural unit. The volumes are formed to optimize the building area and create a non-arguing-with-a-nature architectural appearance. The careful selection of the color scheme and materials, mainly metal and concrete, helped to integrate the building into the surroundings.
The project has 2 pools: a splendid consoled swimming path with a glass structure facing the ocean; and a large swimming pool facing the cliff.
The staff facility separates the entrance group as a public area from the living area as a private one. The building has a green roof.
The bridge on the ground floor leads to the entrance group. The stairs along the waterfall wall lead to an inner courtyard with a lounge zone. The building considers the solar activity and the main viewpoints and maximizes all the windows so that it’ll be comfortable inside all year long even in the hottest period.
Solar panels installed on the roof collect solar and thermal energy. It’s also possible to regulate the insolation by swivel lamellas installed on the windows.
Water collection tanks and funnels collect rainwater for technical needs and watering plants.
