"Herring Run - Growing a Green Building" involves the complete renovation of a 3,000-s.f. former bakery and a two-apartment residential building, which was purchased in 2004. The project, which has achieved Baltimore's first LEED-NC Gold rating, is located near Herring Run Park in the Belair-Edison Main Street District.The project is a natural extension of the owner's vision to create:> a place for children and families to learn about the environment, their role in it and how "green" can be beautiful and functional.> a community asset with a 40-seat educational space available to community organizations, non-profit organizations, and others.> an attractive and functional office space for staff, visitors, and volunteers in which to carry out HRWA's environmental mission.> a sustainable building that will be efficient to operate and that will illustrate green building technologies that are adaptable to Baltimore row-house construction and renovation.
