The 65,000-square-foot Herbalife corporate headquarters on two floors of a five-story building within the new L.A. Live "live-work-play" sports and entertainment district in downtown Los Angeles, adjacent to STAPLES Center and across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Herbalife is a global nutrition direct-selling company with nearly two million independent distributors and international subsidiaries in 70 countries. Its corporate mission is to make dreams of a healthy, prosperous lifestyle come true.
The design incorporates sustainable finishes, energy efficient lighting and access to natural light throughout the space. The impression is clean, light, modern and warm.
By graphically spinning part of Herbalife’s corporate logo, the design team created the concept of the project as an abstraction of the Native American Dream Catcher icon.
Entering the elevator lobby, visitors immediately see on the front of the reception desk a back-lit glass world map indicating the global reach of Herbalife's sales force. The reception area is on two adjoining levels.
The first floor of the reception area tells the Herbalife story. Displays describe the company's history, distributor sales rankings and rewards, products, charitable foundation, most recent sports endorsements, and the annual awards for top sales and humanitarianism.
The upper level, which is devoted to executive meetings and entertainment, serves as a gathering space for monthly dinner lectures. Video scenes from Herbalife’s lively international "Extravaganza" conventions are constantly looping on a 103-inch plasma screen. A large balcony area overlooks the L.A. Live plaza and STAPLES Center, where this venue of athletic excellence has a strong symbolic connection with Herbalife's healthy lifestyle mission.
A dramatic two-story, leaf-shaped structure houses casual and formal conference rooms. One side of the leaf is enclosed in clear glass, giving users access to urban views. The other side is frosted white glass lit by color-changing LED lights. The ceiling design around the upper level of the leaf is the direct representation of the Dream Catcher.
