The new Headquarters of the HDI Gerling insurance group is 178 by 178 metres in size, and brings together under one roof 1,800 employees from the seven locations the group currently has in Hanover.
Nestled in a densely-vegetated landscape, the elevated, six-story office building offers views onto the surrounding greenery. The building provides modern workspaces with a flexible structure that allows for a variety of uses.
The heart of the building is a central atrium, 40 by 40 metres in size, which contains the main entrance, the restaurant and events rooms. Glass elevators link the floors in each of the three U-shaped office wings. The building has a green roof.
The sustainable-building concept is based on the DGNB Gold Standard and combines minimal energy and resource usage with high comfort. The building uses both renewable and geothermal energy. The offices have highly-insulated parapet panels and triple glazing that reflects the surrounding countryside. The energy use for heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting will be less than 100 kWh/m² per year.
