The distinctive feature of the Hamburg district Harvestehude is its tranquil, verdant setting along the Alsterpark. The ensemble comprises two urban villas and a residential palace, collectively offering over 30 units ranging from 145 to 300 square meters. The design typology of the urban villa on the water-facing side allows largely unobstructed views toward the Alsterpark from the elevated residential palace. Its open architectural concept seamlessly integrates interior and exterior spaces, allowing extended sightlines. The compact volumes of the three residential buildings are articulated with small-scale architectural elements; recesses and projections, as well as stepped rooflines, reinforce their vertical emphasis. The project was preceded by a multi-stage competition in late 2009, where the firms BRT and BN Architekten were jointly awarded first place. BN Architekten were subsequently entrusted with the construction of all three buildings and the exclusive interior design for the majority of the units.
