As a cutting-edge design practice, the West Railway Station Hub Complex conducts comprehensive development in a reasonable manner for the convenience of multidimensional transportation, in an attempt to create an innovative station-city space with a geographical landscape style of the southern Yangtze River.
Originating from the concept of "Cloud", the design team put forward concepts such as "Cloud Valley", "Cloud Hall" and "Cloud Gate", which echoed Hangzhou's unique landscape pattern and symbolized the scientific and technological spirit of the Hangzhou West Innovation Corridor. The project utilizes the new space explored by the station field to form a 28-meter wide entrance corridor, which transforms the conventional "two-end entry" mode into "central entry" mode. Passengers' entering time could be shortened by more than half, and the efficiency is significantly improved. Designed in the form of an arched dome, the light roof windows above the Cloud Valley manage to introduce a large amount of natural light to enlighten the space inside the station, guiding passengers to enter the station. Combining conceptual elements such as a high-speed railway and technology cloud city, the design of the "Cloud Hall" aims to create a warm and comfortable waiting experience for passengers. The design team partitioned the lighting resources through computer simulation to make full use of the natural light in a tender way, meeting the lighting demands of the waiting space while saving energy.
The project has innovatively introduced the functions of office and hotel above the canopy. By spearheading a hierarchical right confirmation mechanism, the design team has realized comprehensive development and three-dimensional stacking of business buildings. The mezzanine of the service center in Cloud Hall has reserved an exclusive passage directly to the future towers and the Cloud Gate, which is developed with zero distance from the station and becomes a unique advantage.
