Halfdays is a Colorado based, female focused ski and activewear brand founded by a trio of women, including former Olympian Kiley McKinnon. Their retail location in Denver pairs a restrained architectural approach with the brand’s colourful, contemporary collections, allowing the garments themselves to define the character of the interior.
Set within a monolithic off-white envelope, sculpted display bays sweep through the interior like snowbanks, creating a series of curved niches for merchandise and product presentation. Their form recalls the geometry of the brand’s stylized logo and introduces a softer counterpoint to the linear shelving systems throughout the store. Accents of the brand’s signature butter yellow appear throughout the interior. Quilted surfaces, mirrored finishes, and metallic details are paired with tubular steel shelving and hanging rods derived from the utilitarian forms of ski lifts. The contrast between soft, tacticle materials and exposed steel repeats throughout the space.
Against the muted backdrop, colour-blocked apparel naturally organizes the interior and brings moments of saturation and contrast to the space. With branding and editorial imagery largely absent, the product becomes the brand’s most visible identifier.
