The project aims to become a green and low-carbon design demonstration adapted to Haikou’s regional climate, and to shape a regional architectural model with distinctive local characteristics in terms of regional style, green low-carbon development, vibrant sharing, and cultural spirit.
01 Regional Style – Exploring Haikou’s Regional Environmental Attributes to Establish an Architectural Model Highlighting Urban Characteristics
The design concept takes the lightweight, open, transparent, and lush regional attributes of island architecture as the core expression of Haikou’s urban identity. Drawing on the veranda spatial techniques of Haikou’s traditional architecture, it creates diverse shaded and rain-sheltered spaces to host a wide range of cultural and sports activities for urban staff.
02 Green Generation – Respecting Haikou’s Regional Climate to Develop Low-Carbon Buildings Adapted to Local Conditions
· Ecological Protection: The building base is elevated to minimize disruption to the original natural ecological foundation.
· Structural Innovation: A steel structure with an oblique grid column system is adopted, showcasing structural aesthetics. The inverted cone shape forms self-shading and symbolizes the cultural spirit of working together to support the future.
· Climate Adaptation: The design compresses energy-consuming spaces and enables comprehensive natural lighting and ventilation to suit the local climate.
· Renewable Energy: Integrated rooftop photovoltaic systems generate over 500,000 kWh of electricity annually, making it a demonstration project for full-cycle low-carbon energy production in Haikou.
03 Vibrant Sharing – Refining Urban Mixed-Use Models to Foster Healthy Living of the Times
Through functional integration and sharing, and the utilization of shared and open spaces, the project creates a multi-functional and vibrant public service facility that meets the diverse leisure needs of modern staff. As a physical carrier for urban healthy living, it responds to the evolving demands of future urban cultural life, promoting the development of Haikou’s urban civilization and the improvement of quality of life.
