Guangming Science Park is located in Guangming District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, with a total area of 2,082,500 m2.
The park is positioned as a large-scale comprehensive urban park integrating functions such as ecology, culture, art, sports and tourism. Providing internationalized high-quality public services for the Guangming Science City, it will be a world-class science park.
The design concept of the park is evolved from the butterfly that broke free from its cocoon. The butterfly-shaped building will lead the city to spread its wings and fly away with “science and landscape”.
Make full use of the superior resources of native trees, adhere to the principle of light design, and create a landscape urban room for the public in Guangming District, Shenzhen through multiple angles such as space, plants, paving, revetments and facilities.
The park combined with the landscape layout of “three centers and one island” forms a landscape structure that takes the Sun Lake as the core, surrounded with various activity spaces. The Science Center is the origin of the science theme, spreads to the two wings through the Sun Lake, thus starting a journey of exploration of science and natural accomplishment. The Science Island is an island located in the Sun Lake. It is a futuristic underwater technology hall that integrates art and technology. The main entrance road, as the main landscape axis of the park, strengthens the relationship between the park and its surroundings and forms a visual corridor.
The north of the park takes mountain as a carrier, and the ecological corridor provides a convenient migration passage for animals. Scientific connotation and natural elements are extracted to create five natural theaters, four intelligent stops, and multiple hand-made trails to fully show the charm and wonder of nature, and an immersive exploration experience.
I. Water Energy Theater: An interesting place to experience the process of water cycle;
II. Foggy Theater: A cloud interactive device is set up to spray mist. Visitors seem to be in a fantasy world;
III. Sound Wave Theater: The interactive landscape wall is created to perceive the transmission of sound once the sound over a certain decibel when the high-speed rail passes by;
IV. Log Theater: The site’s native plant waste are transformed to create a unique recreational space, and return to its ecological feature;
V. Hilly Theater: Simulate the undulating hills, use the micro-topography to enrich the diversity of the site, and set up activity facilities for the children and the elderly so as to create an activity place for all ages.
VI. The four intelligent stops provide people with convenient and pleasant leisure space by using natural science principles and intelligent design techniques.
Guangming Science Park is guided by science, forging ahead, breaking the cocoon into a butterfly, and highlighting the site.
