On 5 April, the Mayor of Paris opens the Forum des Halles with its gigantic glass roof, the Canopée, conceived by the Parisian agency Pierre Berger and Jacques Anziutti architects.
The design of the new structure transforms the previously drab site into a bright and open space for 37 million visitors per year. With 18,000 glass shells, the Canopée offers shelter from bad weather and provides soft light and a stable interior temperature. Five floors below, fluid and expansive spaces connect 800,000 daily users to the largest interurban transport hub in Europe.
