The Graduate Hotel is a 224-key hotel for the Cornell University’s Tech Campus on New York’s Roosevelt Island. The hotel features a restaurant, rooftop bar and banquet facilities. The hotel is integrated into the campus providing catering facilities for adjacent educational buildings. Stonehill Taylor as the project architect worked with Snøhetta as façade design consultant to integrate the façade with the adjacent educational building. The building has won a design award by New York City’s Public Design Commission.
Marking the entrance to the campus, Graduate Roosevelt Island boasts unobstructed views of Manhattan and includes a full-service restaurant, indoor-outdoor rooftop bar, and 3,600 square feet of event and meeting facilities. Stonehill Taylor was instrumental in the creation of the lobby space, which features a monolithic 30-foot-tall ceiling made from acoustical plaster. The design of the ceiling was important in connecting the interior space to the exterior as part of the full campus experience.
