Conceived as both an urban landmark and a
strategic center, the new Casa Sud train station will
stand as a contemporary monument at the heart of
Casablanca. More than just a transport hub, it will
be a space for gathering, a public park, embodying
the ambition of Morocco’s economic capital to
equip itself with infrastructure that addresses the
rapid growth of its metropolis.
Located at the intersection of key urban axes,
the station will act as a critical hinge between
the historic city and its modern extensions. By
bridging over the railways, Casa Sud will reconnect
existing enclaves and stitch the city’s urban fabric
back together. It will also form the backbone of a
new urban development project which will include
residential and commercial zones.
The station is defined by a monumental vaulted
roof that encompasses all the uses of the station
and brings them together in a functional and poetic
choreography. This immense space protects the
station but also opens up on all sides to the city. The
shape of the sphere is important precisely because
it is not polarized; it gives equal importance to
all orientations. It is a way of emphasizing the
centrality of the location and its access to all the
surrounding neighborhoods.
At the foot of the station, a large urban park will
be created, a much-needed garden in a city lacking
green spaces. A 360° belvedere at the crown of the
station will offer an unprecedented view over the
city, making the station a destination in itself.
The project draws on Casablanca’s tradition of GARE CASA SUD, CASABLANCA
innovative architecture while establishing an
intemporal and serene urban presence. Casa Sud
Station will be much more than a railway hub: it will
be a new metropolitan monument, a modern agora,
and a unifying public space, set to become one of
Casablanca’s most emblematic landmarks.
