Seasons are the measure of time—experienced through the interplay of climate, body, and daily moments. The project takes this as its starting point, imagining life as a path unfolding with the rhythm of the seasons. Following the natural cycles, this residence settles into distinct rhythms of everyday living. The space is no longer merely a container of function—it becomes a medium through which time can pause, flow, and be perceived.
The home unfolds vertically, echoing the passage of time. Each level accommodates a different state of living, allowing daily rhythms to shift like the changing seasons—from openness to intimacy, from dynamism to serenity.
The ground floor sets the prelude to everyday life. At the foyer, the pace gently slows—dark stone grounds the space, while wooden veneers soften the ambience.
The double-height living room draws in generous daylight, while the furnishings bring the scale back to human proportions—a light-toned sofa, dark armchairs, and a black coffee table establishing a harmonious tonal balance. A cascade of pendant lights casts illumination into delicate layers, bright yet understated. A tea corner beside the courtyard deepens this sense of stillness, slowing the rhythm of indoor life.
The living and dining areas are connected by a continuous circulation, anchored by a generous island. The solid stone countertop contrasts with glass pendant lights, creating a subtle visual interplay.
Descending to the basement, the home shifts into a more private rhythm. Dark stone grounds the floor, while walls and ceilings articulate a clear structural order.
The living and reception areas create a sense of enclosure. A fireplace along the wall radiates warmth and light, creating a cozy atmosphere for gatherings. The dining area and bar island sit at the opposite end of the circulation, with an orderly wine cabinet subtly blending into the space. A round table occupies the visual center, fostering intimate conversations.
Entertainment areas—billiards, board games, spa, and wine tasting—are woven discreetly within the space. Each area remains independent yet stays visually and spatially connected, allowing time to flow with ease.
If the ground floor marks the awakening of daily life, the second floor feels like the sun-filled expanse of the longest day of the year. The family lounge, perched above the open void, acts as a buffer, with a circular recessed ceiling drawing boundaries inward while gently extending the sightlines outward.
The study responds to everyday routines with clarity. The desk stretches longitudinally, its faceted edges creating a visual rhythm that contrasts with the solid stone base. Reading, writing, and collecting coexist naturally, transitioning effortlessly between modes of use.
The third floor feels like the quiet depth of the year, a moment when life gently turns inward. Lighting is precisely tuned, not washing over the space but focused with gentle restraint. The master bedroom stretches horizontally, its generous window drawing distant mountains and courtyard scenery into view. An intentionally lowered bed and coordinated furnishings anchor the space, allowing the gaze to wander fluidly across the room. A lounge sofa at the foot of the bed and a window-side chair invite unhurried moments of pause.
The walk-in closet, tucked at the far end of the circulation, pairs mirrors with wooden paneling, while the herringbone floor subtly guides movement inward. The master bathroom continues this composed restraint, featuring a window-side bathtub, symmetrical twin basins, and a thoughtful layout that encourage a calm, unhurried rhythm of use.
At the end of the corridor, a carefully composed scene invites pause—a brief moment where time gently settles.
In the girl’s bedroom, curves shape the space with gentle ease. Wall and ceiling converge through continuous arcs, while lines across interior surfaces extend the spatial rhythm. Soft fabrics and pale beige set a quiet tone, with details revealing themselves subtly as the sightline moves through the room—dynamic and lively. The atmosphere recalls the light between late spring and early summer: bright but never harsh, soft yet subtly directed.
The boy’s room, by contrast, combines a composed palette with crisp lines to express youthful energy. A wall-mounted skateboard display marks personal interests while punctuating the wall with visual rhythm. The dark headboard anchors the bed, and cool materiality establishes a sense of balanced calm. This room feels like a midsummer breeze—lively yet never chaotic.
The mezzanine becomes a gentle pause in the home’s rhythm. Ascending the staircase, a translucent sculpture catches the eye as a visual anchor, subtly guiding the shift in circulation. A corner sofa offers a brief moment of stillness, leaving a quiet openness that keeps the space softly alive. In the private collection room, metal frameworks pair with transparent surfaces, creating a display that feels both restrained and precisely articulated.
As the seasons unfold within the home, time takes on a tangible rhythm. It reveals itself in the shifting light, the pace of movement, and the daily habits that shape daily life. The project doesn’t seek to represent time—it follows the natural cadence of living. Through the cycles of the year, it quietly records the moments of everyday life as they unfold, day after day.
