As part of New York City’s efforts to provide much-needed affordable housing, the Fort Greene Family Center builds community around new housing, play spaces, and a multi-story mural in Brooklyn. The project provides 105 transitional housing units for some of New York’s most vulnerable families with children. The outdoor environment includes play areas for kids of all ages, family hangout areas, gardens, a basketball court, urban farming, and a new publicly accessible plaza that offers community space for the neighborhood. Reclaimed stones from the site’s former church are integrated into the paving to pay homage to the site's history and creatively repurpose existing materials.
