The DB Schenker headquaters in Essen was conceived as a building complex with capacity for 900 employees. Its geometric form is defined by intersecting wings, whose concave and convex curves lend the ensemble its unmistakable character. The wings are predominantly based on proven two-bay structures.
The ground floor accommodates a wide range of special functions. From the spacious foyer with central reception, users and visitors access the circulation cores, the staff restaurant with adjoining cafe, the outdoor terrace, and a versatile conference area offering rooms of various sizes and configurations. The upper standard floors are used exclusively as office space.
The recessed white facade band, set in contrast to the black surfaces, has become the architectural hallmark of DB Schenker's new corporate headquaters on Kruppstraße in Essen.
