Located on a natural ravine in Tumbaco, Casa Firmamento rests lightly on the landscape—an elevated, restrained volume in dialogue with the sky, the slope, and the surrounding vegetation, without imposing itself.
The project stems from a clear premise: comfort is not a luxury, but the direct result of deeply understanding a place. Orientation, cross ventilation, passive solar control, and a thermal envelope were all designed in harmony with the region’s temperate dry climate, minimizing reliance on artificial climate systems.
Every construction decision followed principles of sustainability and environmental respect:
— local labor,
— low-maintenance, energy-efficient materials,
— a green roof system,
— and native vegetation that returns shade, freshness, and biodiversity to the site.
Clean volumes, floating structures, and strategic openings create a spatial experience that is both introspective and open—protecting privacy without giving up the horizon. Inside, light takes the lead. From the central skylight to the cantilevered windows, everything invites pause and presence.
Casa Firmamento doesn’t seek to be an object in the landscape. It seeks to be a breath within it.
