The concepts
behind this project are simple but essential for the general result and final
goals. The idea was to give the possibility to read the house in its depth and
height by making evident the system of sectional and longitudinal circulation.
The apartment was completely reorganize around the necessity and habit of
living of this family of four with two little children; a very large living
area organized around the “island” of the couch, centrally located, due to the
series of windows on two sides of the walls, and the big fireplace on the
other, treated in accordance to the idea of plain lines and volumes that is one
of the peculiarity of the entire project, as a stone monolith. The upper part
of the chimney, thanks to a special paint can be transformed in a cinema screen
that make the television disappear as a classical object in the living room.
The kitchen is hosted inside a self-alone freestanding cube that doesn’t touch
the original wooden structure of the roof. The cube height gives also the alignment
for the glass surface that marks the floor entrance and separates from the main
access stair. This threshold zone separates the more private area of the
apartment where the bedroom, the children playroom and baths are located. The
third bedroom that function also as studio is accessible from the living space.
The large terrace placed in sequence with the main living room guarantees the
light and open full perception of the entire space.
