Meadow House is a generous single-storey family residence on the outskirts of Benátky nad Jizerou, designed as a home that lives in continuous dialogue with nature.
Set on an exceptionally large rural plot, the project embraces its landscape context and anticipates future small-scale farming, including orchards, fields and potential animal keeping. Rather than simply respecting the surroundings, the house actively engages with them.
The layout orients all primary living spaces toward the southwest, opening wide views into the garden and ensuring optimal daylight. The central part of the house contains a spacious living area with kitchen, which extends through a large glazed façade to a covered terrace with an outdoor summer kitchen—supporting daily outdoor living and seasonal cooking.
The eastern wing hosts the master suite with walk-in closet, bathroom and a children’s room, while the western wing accommodates additional children’s spaces, service rooms and a flexible home office that doubles as a guest room.
Architecturally, the house combines a simple gabled volume with extended flat roof overhangs that provide shading and shelter. The façade blends vertically oriented timber slats, light rough plaster and darker stone cladding, giving the home an earthy, timeless character embedded in the landscape.
Careful site placement optimizes solar gain and respects the potential for future agricultural use. The design is prepared for upcoming energy solutions, including seamless integration of solar systems.
