Prize-winning
entry for the extension of the European School in Munich. Our concept for a new
building at the European School in Munich is based on natural growth in which
the new design yields from the DNA of the existing building. Entrance,
circulation, air space and structure of the new building mirrors the original.
The heart of the building is a dense void. This paradoxical space creates a vast meeting space with
framed views and spaces to reinforce a warm intimacy at the center of the
school. The hybridized structure that is somewhere between rational and
irrational creates a space for dreaming and relaxation.
