A single volume, a building conceived as a large container for a loading and unloading area, harsh conditions. It sits on the pier as transit area for passengers, seeking neutrality in its image and wide spaces for circulation, processing and waiting. Robustness in its massing, austerity in its materials – concrete, glass and aluminium – and chromatic restraint with grey as the dominant colour.
The segregation of the volume generates two differentiated areas – cafeteria/restaurant on one side; boarding area and offices on the other – with a large, covered atrium between the two as an entrance space. Contrast between the opacity of the façades and the transparency turning inward towards the interior.
Designed with a methodical repetition of square modules, the ground floor is completely open as a result of suspending the entire slab of the two upper floors, which house offices and the large boarding area, from the roof. Assertive exteriors and lightweight interiors, in a continuous relationship between
the interiors and the sea.
