DXA studio was asked to re-imagine the interior design – including residential, lobby, and amenity spaces – for the first building to be completed within a 1.9 million square foot, 5 building, mixed-use development located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
The design merges the gritty quality of the Lower East Side neighborhood and the stark contemporary façade with an elegant and refined luxury residential experience. Materials such as patterned blackened steel and polished concrete are balanced with warm wood panels to envelope the public spaces, whereas abstracted geometric patterns echoing the façade design appear in various elements such as the reception wall and the elevator tiles.
Within the residential units, a sophisticated use of material and light, highlighted by dark wood panels, creates a dramatic back-drop for minimally detailed kitchens dressed with simple yet luxurious stone work. Bathrooms detailed with refined stone surfaces and all-glass
shower enclosures frame key views of the New York skyline.
