The Design and preservation plan for the adaptive reuse of the structures will preserve and restore the timber framed, brick and stone bearing wall buildings and includes a series of deft cuts, insertions and accretions that will provide lively, light-filled interior spaces and enable circulation within and through the buildings. View corridors and day lighting will serve to minimize the interior massing and create a lively thoroughfare for retail, cultural, commercial, food, educational and agricultural uses. The design of the building complex will generate a revenue stream for ongoing Park operations, create a year-round development that provides amenity to Park visitors and area residents and creates a home for businesses while becoming a strong anchor at this critical turn in the Park.
