After the good reception of the first assignment (Torre el Rengle I), Sorigué once again opted for the experience of ON-A in the construction of a second residential building, following the same language and projection that had been promoted in the previous project for the city of Mataró. This is why the new building follows the geometric line of its predecessor: a volume where the singularity is defined by the sinuousness of its curves and the horizontality of the white GRC stripes. To guarantee the sustainability of the project, we have chosen materials that achieve energy and acoustic efficiency, as well as the connection to an urban air-conditioning network (La Red Tub Verd Mataró). This system contributes to the promotion of renewable energies and seeks energy efficiency, improving the performance of the energy resources available in the city. The building has a total built area of 10,312 m², 2,505m² of parking (distributed over 2 floors below ground level), 7,807 m² of residential space, and 820 m² destined for municipal facilities on the ground floor of the building. The residential part consists of 66 flats with 2 to 4 bedrooms, all of them with sea views and large terraces. The building is planned parallel to the coast, so that all the flats are oriented towards the sea, seeking maximum use of natural light and interaction with the outside space.
The urban planning definition differentiates between two “L” shaped levels: the ground floor, of great height, dedicated to the different accesses and the future municipal facilities, and two lower levels of 4 and 14 storeys for residential use. The resulting surfaces of the different volumes are used for the leisure and enjoyment of the building’s occupants: on the roof of P5 there is access to a large solarium terrace with a communal swimming pool, on P1 the apartments gain large terraces over the facilities, and in the case of the tower, the penthouses on the top floor have private access to the roof thanks to the arrangement of individual staircases.
