The project is the result of an extensive process of experimentation. Several studies were discarded until it was concluded that the adopted solution provides the best relationship with the urban context in which it is inserted.
It is a residential building located at the top of one of the most valued and pleasant neighborhoods in Curitiba. A corner lot with an irregular shape, resulting from a street cutting across the orthogonal layout of the region. A privileged location, offering good visibility from various distances and angles.
It was decided that the typical floor would consist of three apartments. Two of them with two bedrooms and one with three. The two-bedroom apartments are not identical. One of them, located opposite the corner, has a suite, receives the morning sun, and takes advantage of the view of the Serra do Mar. The other, with two suites, faces the street to the west, where movable brises were created. These not only maintain privacy but also assist in controlling the afternoon sun.
The three-bedroom apartments occupy the corner. The living room is positioned at the corner of the tower, and its full glass enclosure makes the city view the backdrop of private life. Large overhangs along the edges give a horizontal rhythm to the façade. They also create an intermediate space while providing an intense relationship between the interior and exterior, preserving both the privacy and the welcoming nature of the apartments.
To make the building’s proportion pleasing, a "separation" between the apartments was created, dividing the volume into two, as if they were two buildings placed side by side. This also makes it easier to understand the building’s layout for those observing it, marking where each apartment starts and ends.
Everything was meticulously thought out and designed, from the implantation to the smallest finishing details. Materials such as concrete, gray tiles, aluminum, glass, stone, and wood, worked in balance, make this project a timeless piece of architecture.
The beauty of the building is also in the way it meets the ground, as well as in the relationship of the ground floor with the city. Abundant planters, a light grille, round pillars, and glass enclosures make the space more fluid and the building lighter. A delicate way of landing on that corner. It’s as if the building, with all its elegance, politely asks for permission to integrate into its surroundings.
