Located on a quiet street in the Batel neighborhood of Curitiba, the building has a family scale with only 6 floors. Each floor has 4 apartments, with areas of 52.6 and 67.5 m², two facing the street and the other two with views of the Batel Ring Road. The top floor is occupied by a common area, offering the best view for everyone.
On the ground floor, the garage is arranged so that the cars are not visible, thus giving prominence to pedestrians. An open hall is created with minimal enclosures, and together with the landscaping, it forms a small access square.
Looking back at the old houses elevated by blocks from street level, the building lifts off the ground through its materiality. The concrete and tile tower brings more neutral tones, while the exposed brick on the ground floor adds a sense of warmth, comfort, and friendliness, conveying important feelings of transition between the building and the city.
The structure is simple and rational. In the façade, the use of exposed concrete eliminates the need for edge beams, resulting in only slabs and floor-to-ceiling frames. The brises serve to filter solar incidence and also provide a layer of privacy. The building as a whole encourages relationships and interactions among the residents of DOM 317
