East Boston Branch Library- Boston Public Library

Boston, MA, United States

YEAR
2013
SIZE
10,000 sqft - 25,000 sqft
Overlooking the Bremen Street Park, the new East Boston Branch of the Boston Public Library serves the entire East Boston community, one of Boston’s fastest-growing and most diverse neighborhoods. The project includes an open-plan community reading room with views of the park and the Boston skyline, with dedicated areas for adults, children & teens, in addition to a quiet reading room, a conference room and community space for
multipurpose programs. A Reading Porch runs the length of the building along the park, providing outdoor space for reading, congregating, and using the wireless internet network. Plan flexibility and a focus on early literacy programming define this compact, technologically advanced branch library. The building will be LEED Silver certified. (15,000 s.f.)
