DongWoo was built on a particularly irregular site and required an efficient architectural arrangement. The solution was to build a long and slim structure facing the road. Majority of the structure is dedicated to factory space, with the remaining space as an office.
The axis of the factory vertically coincides with the axis entrance of the office space, creating a natural sense of entry into the two buildings. It also represents a traditional Korean-style space, which is picturesquely repeated through use of transparent glass along the building’s boundaries.
Various compositions of space lead through the entire factory. The office building includes a three-story glass atrium, which creates a vertical spectacle within the building. The design concept aims to express a modern structure of beauty and intensity.
The simplicity of the steel animates the entire side of the structure. The blue color of the existing prefabricated panel has been harmonized with the use of yellow, creating an emphasis on each color under an influence of comparison.
