The new multi functional hall in Dongguan in central Guangdong province south of China is perceived as the epicenter of the entire basketball city for 15,000 spectators. The inner roof disc is hanged up by the lower
chords and the loads are transferred to the outer compression ring. In the
middle the tension forces of the single rods are transferred by the lower
ring. In the middle the compression force of the upper chord and the
tension force of the lower chord are transferred by the inner two rings.
This load transfer is equal to single trusses. The outer compression ring is
supported by inclined V-Structures with root points on a 135 m-diameter
circle. V-Structures with height up to 28 m arranged on the 9.00 m high
platform carry the roof and the cable net façade. V-Structures with outer
compression ring are stiffening the structure in respect of the horizontal
loads of every direction.
