The masterplan for the revitalization of Greater Sudbury’s historic heart aims to transform an underused area, currently concealed behind outdated facades and empty parking lots, into a vibrant, functional space. Situated at the intersection of the city’s natural, industrial, and transportation frameworks, this project celebrates inclusivity and cooperation, bringing together diverse social and ethnic groups for connection and creativity.
With a total area of 430,000 sq. ft., the development will introduce 2,036 new workplaces, supporting economic growth and innovation. A key feature is a creative office cluster, designed to provide new job opportunities in high-value industries. This will empower young entrepreneurs and foster a supportive environment for emerging talent. Alongside this, the project will offer coworking spaces and specialized hubs to meet the needs of an evolving economy.
Integral to the development is a sports and cultural cluster, which includes an arena that can host a wide range of events, from local festivals to major hockey matches. This space will become a cultural and recreational hub, particularly for hockey, with facilities designed to nurture future talent and engage the local community in active lifestyles. The residential areas will offer private, quiet spaces amidst the bustling urban energy, creating a balanced environment where people can thrive. By integrating surrounding green spaces, the design encourages walking and reduces reliance on cars, promoting a sustainable, active lifestyle. The project will also feature a midscale hotel and extended stay accommodations, providing essential services for both residents and visitors.
This revitalization project represents a significant step towards making Greater Sudbury a thriving, dynamic city, with a harmonious blend of work, leisure, and residential spaces, all designed to foster community, creativity, and growth.
