Design At Riverside Gallery was constructed within a ground floor wing of the new School of Architecture building. The space is divided into a print studio, visible from Melville Street, and the main exhibition spaces.
The floating side walls of the exhibition space screen direct sunlight from the adjacent windows, but allow ambient sunlight to flood in from above and below. These walls are thickened to hide air ducts and electrical wiring from view. These walls also form a new exhibition space, visible only from the exterior of the building looking in. Four movable walls are designed to roll into various positions in the gallery, thereby allowing for different exhibition layouts. The white reception desk is also on wheels, and can plug into the data/power grid throughout the gallery space.
