This is a store design for “dear mayuko”, a new brand dealing in cosmetic related products.
The “dear mayuko” brand provides a wide variety of products, from skin care products for entire body containing “Sericin” extracted from silkworm cocoons, to bath additives, bath towels and others.
Since it is expected to open new stores at various locations in different scales in the future, the store design should adapt to varying conditions and environments while maintaining consistent brand image.
The main place of the products usage is considered to be bathrooms, thus we proposed a store design composed of the elements of bathrooms throughout the store; walls and furniture are finished with tiles; lighting instruments are produced from the image of shower heads; water droplet patterns are applied to glass surfaces.
We introduced those tiles in various materials— ceramic, wood, urethane and others. A grid pattern is defined by 12.5cm x 12.5cm tiles to give a sense of unity, while the tiles in different materials are properly selected according to the locations.
The total direction for branding packaging design is given by Daigo Daikoku from the Nippon Design Center, Inc., and coupled with the store design, the grid pattern of the tile is also used on paper bags and gift boxes.
