Dalian Zhenyue is situated in Dalian, a coastal city in Northeast China often referred to as the “Little Shanghai of the North.” The design draws upon four classical Chinese architectural motifs—Ge Shan (latticed screens), Gua Luo (hanging ornaments), Zao Jing (coffered ceilings), and Zhao Bi (spirit screens with jade-like panels). These traditional elements are reinterpreted through contemporary materials: semi-transparent façades, linear metal detailing, warm timber-finish aluminum, and translucent jade. The outcome is a modern residence that reconciles cultural depth with contemporary sophistication, where each entryway becomes a dialogue with China’s architectural heritage.
