Cycle and pedestrian tunnel NS

The local council of Alphen aan den Rijn commissioned the artist Sabine Zwikker to create a work for the new cycle tunnel – ‘The Connection’ – to be built under the town’s railway station. She asked us to transfer images that refer to the experience of viewing the landscape from a moving train onto black and white tiles, with around them similar tiles in four shades of green. Although it turned out not to be simple to achieve precisely the desired effect of the atmospheric images on the tiles, the finished project received the enthusiastic approval of the artist and her client.
