Mont-Saint-Aignan is a relatively young city. It is characterized by an arrangement free standing post-war buildings that are surrounded by expanses of greenery and asphalt. The site for the new cultural centre is between a park and the town’s main shopping centre Place Colbert. Our project links the new centre with the shopping arcade of Place Colbert with a clearly defined urban space akin to Place des Vosges or Piazza Anfiteatro in Lucca. Inside, the cultural centre is split in two zones: a spatially rich foyer that contains reception, cafe, and information centre. The second zone is more utilitarian in nature, containing the performance halls, music school, and administration.
