The Oasis Wellness Center was created to contribute to student success and retention, while enhancing the student life experience at California State University Northridge. It serves to compliment the Student Recreation Center in fulfilling the quality of fitness, health and wellness for the entire campus community.
According to the American College Health Association’s National College Health Assessment survey, the top two health impediments negatively impacting students’ academic performance were stress and lack of sleep. Stress impacted 31% of CSUN students as compared to 28% nationally; while sleep deprivation affected 21% as compared to 19% nationally. The center is a “learning laboratory” where students, in close partnership with and supervision by dedicated faculty and professionally and clinical staff on campus, would reach out to and serve the needs of students, as well as members of the campus community.
