This project is on the ground floor of a two-story building on Congress Ave. in downtown Austin. Formerly a clothing store, the space was transformed into a restaurant that offers two distinct guest experiences. The first is a moody bar and lounge with dark stained woods, copper bar-top, and a long banquette upholstered in dark blue wool fabric. Separated by a plasma cut sliding partition wall, the kitchen and dining space appears in stark contrast. Bright lighting, natural maple wood throughout and custom stainless steel counters and custom kitchen equipment and appliances.
The design and the restaurant’s unique counter-only service style combine to create a convivial and energetic environment. A central stainless island that houses the conduction range, oven and prep surface and perimeter stainless counters and cabinets were designed to hold everything the chefs needed. Since the diner is witness to all activities it was paramount to execute a highly organized kitchen.
