DEPLOYMENT AND URBAN ENVIRONMENT
This set of eight buildings, whose larger façades orient respectively north and south in two parallel alignments, defines a green central mall that promotes the conviviality of the inhabitants, ending in a dense bunch of trees that surrounds a small bar/cafe building.
Although the layout suggested a symmetrical distribution of buildings, to ensure the best sun exposure in the living rooms all these spaces face south.
The solution guarantees two basic principles: to give each family a housing unit that, although part of a building, is as similar as possible with a detached dwelling, and to ensure all units cross ventilation and equal terms of solar orientation.
TECHNIQUES AND CONSTRUCTIVE RATIONALITY
Project was conceived in order to take advantage of the ability of resistant masonry of brick walls, in a load-bearing concept, ensuring economies of scale from a repetition of modulated elements.
TYPES AND FUNCTIONAL ORGANIZATION
A type
Besides a commercial space placed at ground level, it includes six housing units (3 single bedroom (T1) + 3 four bedrooms (T4)), accessible from a gallery placed at level one, on the north façade.
The four bedrooms units include three bedrooms on the second floor, one facing south and the other two opening to the central mall, and a fourth bedroom at level 0.
The single bedroom units have the room on the 2nd floor.
B type
Three floors that include eight housing units (4 two bedrooms (T2) + 4 three bedrooms (T3)), accessible from a gallery placed at level one, on the north façade.
The T2 units are accessible from ground level, and two of them are duplex.
The T3 units are accessible from the gallery and have its rooms at 2nd level
FORMAL ASPECTS
Although these buildings have different typologies of housing, we tried that the appearance of the various buildings were similar, to reinforce the visual unity of the whole operation.
the organization of the façades is based on the grid defined by the supporting walls. In order to enhance the overall picture of this project, and since the main access to dwellings is generally established from the first floor, we considered the characterization of differentiated ground floor by using a stronger color.
To ensure it’s visual animation, we propose the partial coating of facades with ceramic panels, which introduce some vibration by capturing and reflecting the sunlight. The chimneys have a dimension able to reinsure a rhythm that reinforces the site characterization.
In order to foster the relationship between interior and exterior both living and bedrooms rooms bay windows, whose physical protection is made of metal guards which constitute one of the most expressive elements of the buildings.
