IDEA
The Project we
first to a building of „Starostwo powiatowe (District Townhall of Garwolin)” In
Garwolin, Poland, near by the capital city,
among the chaotic development.
A new-designed
building finds the surroundings with no clear urban pattern. We were trying our
best, to treat it as a kind of determinant of the future direction of the
city’s development.
Its aim is to
implement order and discipline, to initiate dialog with the surroundings.
A significant
importance of the building in the urbanism of the city is justified by its
relevant function.
The new building
is modern, elegant but neither clamorous nor one-season. The building promoting
concentration, easy to read by its users (the stuff, clients and guests), open
for general use…
We are taking
the green square away from citizens that is why we consider it to be most
appropriate to arrange the space in such away as to make them find contact with
nature.
ARCHITECTURE AND SPACE
Main entrance
materializes itself in a wide band of promenade leading up to the building.
The proposed
terrain elevation and stripes of greenery in front of the building create a noise
and traffic protecting curtain.Slats of the
teck wood intertwine with stripes of low greenery on the wooden lane. It
creates an open-worked carpet of the entrance. We don’t resign from the
greenery but we subjugate and put it in order.
The promenade
leading to the building and the main entrance create an axis which penetrates
entrance elevation emphasized with a big glazing. The
axis goes through the main hall with the stands of Information Office – place
which gathers most of the guest is central point of the building and
communicates all the departments. Further it opens a view onto an interior
patio limited by facades of the building.
The patio
mirrors the entrance composition with its architecture.
The axis is
emphasized by a disturbance of the parallel to it facades of the building and
enlargement of the depth and height of the building in the entrance zone.
The axis
therefore materialized itself in the form of wide stripes leading from the
entrance of the parcel, deformations of the facades standing on its way,
passing through the building in a form of an open vast entrance space. It
continues as the patio ending on the southern, interior façade of the golden
Conference Hall.
Form of the
building is so compact to respond the economical
requirements, minimalize the length and make the communication among
departments easier.
The building has
a shape of a deformated rectangular prism with clearly pointed entrance and a
ring of the vertical, identical window divisions on all of the elevations. The
monotony of the office windows is broken by the constellation of small, glass
holes on various heights illuminating communication and office spaces.
Considering
function complexity of the building we
were trying our Best to divide the space In a logical and clear way, making the
orientation in the building easier.
